Open Water Ocean Swim - Saturday, July 11, 2009, 7:30am
 |
Swim the ocean waters directly off Montauk's popular ocean beaches, while raising funds for the future aquatics center at the Montauk Playhouse Community Center. Participants can choose from 3 swim distances - 1/2-mile, 1-mile and 2-mile - which will start in Town and end at Ditch Plains beach. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Montauk Playhouse Community Center.
The cost to participate is $30 in advance (register at active.com), $35 on day of race. All participants will receive a swim cap and t-shirt. The registration fee will be waived for those who raise $100 or more - prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers.
Arrive at Kirk Beach in Montauk at 7:30 to register.

I would like to sponsor a swimmer for the July 11 event.
Awards will be given to the top fundraisers following the swim at the July 11 event.
Harbor Lights Gala - Saturday, August 1, 2009
Montauk Lake Club
(purchase tickets online)
 |
The Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation (MPCCF) will host this year’s Harbor Lights Gala on August 1, 2009. We are delighted to be honoring Ted and Patricia Shaine and Palmer Vineyards, both enthusiastic supporters of the Montauk Playhouse.
We are pleased to again host the Gala at the private Montauk Lake Club on East Lake Drive, as the facility is also 80 years old this year (it was built in 1929 as a summer retreat for Louis R. Wasey, a New York advertising tycoon and friend of developer Carl Fisher). Tickets cost $225 per person for Montauk's "Event of the Season." As always, guests will be treated to live entertainment, gourmet hors d'ouevres, cutting stations, and an open bar.
Sponsorship and Scroll of Honor opportunities are available. |

(purchase tickets online)

The Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation and St. Therese of Lisieux are proud to present Ciaran Sheehan – COMING HOME on August 23, 2009 at 6pm at St. Therese of Lisieux Roman Catholic Church in Montauk. COMING HOME , which will air on PBS in June, is a return engagement for Ciaran Sheehan.
COMING HOME features traditional Irish music, spiritual pieces, and Broadway selections by Sheehan, known for his long run as The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. The New York Times has written:
"Sheehan has the kind of soaring stage voice from which indelible Broadway moments are made." |
Sheehan will be joined by Gabriel Donohue of the Chieftains, with Brenda Landrum on piano and Vonnie Quinn on violin.
The event is a joint fundraiser for both the Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation and St. Therese of Lisieux Roman Catholic Church. Standard admission is a $40 donation per person in advance, $50 at the door. A Champagne Reception, at which participants will be able to meet the performers, will be held at the Montauk Downs directly after the performance. Combined Concert and Champagne Reception tickets cost $100 per person.
