Wasey, a New York advertising tycoon and friend of developer Carl Fisher). Tickets cost $225 per person for Montauk’s “Event of the Season.” As always, guests were treated to live entertainment, gourmet hors d’ouevres, cutting stations, and an open bar.

Along the Waterfence Paddle

Thirty five paddlers on kayaks, stand up paddleboards, and in one Adirondack Guide Boat took to the water on Saturday, July 19 to raise funds for the future aquatics center at the Montauk Playhouse Community Center. Each participant was asked to raise or contribute $500 to participate in the 10-mile Along the Waterfence Paddle from Fresh Pond in Amagansett to Fort Pond Bay in Montauk, bringing in $18,500 in proceeds.

With a strong tail wind and the tide working with the paddlers, the paddle took about 2 hours for all participants to complete. The event culminated in a family barbeque at Eddie Ecker County Park at Fort Pond Bay, Montauk.

The event was organized by Paddlers for Humanity (www.p4h.org), a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization based out of East Hampton, whose mission is to raise funds for worthy local, national and international nonprofit organizations. Members of Paddlers for Humanity have organized the successful Miracle Paddle in past years and incorporated as a nonprofit this past year. Their signature event, the Montauk to Block Island 18-Mile Paddle (called Miracle Paddle in past years), is scheduled for September 13th or 14th this year, depending on weather conditions. Each participant in the 18-Mile Paddle is asked to raise or contribute $3,000. The funds raised will benefit the Children’s Learning Center of the East End, International Surgical Mission Support, Miracle House, and PRASAD.
